Tank
Tanks were a series of vehicles developed by the British Army during the First World War. The Mark I was the world's first tank to enter combat. It was created due to the need of overcoming trenches, barbed wire and machine guns over the battlefields of the Western Front.
Facts
The first combat mission for the Tank was on the 15th September 1916 during the Battle of Somme.
During that Mission 17 tanks broke down out of 49. When the Germans saw this new weapon they ran in terror.
For the cannon of an early tank they only had a small 6 pounder naval gun compared to 30 years later with Germany's High Velocity 88mm on the King Tiger.
When Germany captured these tank they would then put their markings on it and drive it at the British.
Germany's answer for destroying the tank came in the form of a 75mm field artillery. The tanks where easy targets for the 75mm due to the top speed of the tank was 3.7 mph.
