Farquhar-Hill p1918
The Farquhar-Hill rifle was a British design by Moubray G. Farquhar and Arthur H. Hill. It was one of the first automatic rifles designed in the first half of the 20th century.
Facts
The rifle was mostly used by the Royal Flying Corps from 1916 onward.
It was had a 20-65 round magazine depending on the variant.
In 1918 the British Army ordered the Rifle but the deal fell through due to the end of the war.
For observers and gunners on aircraft the weapon was extremely popular due to the fire rate compared to a bolt action.
To keep the rifle firing it used the recoil of the bullet before in the prototype but the one that saw action used compressed gas.
